For Customers using the Cook4U Platform

Terms of Service

1. About Cook4U

Cook4U is an online marketplace that connects customers with independent home cooks ("Chefs"). Cook4U provides the interface for browsing, ordering, and paying for food — but does not employ, manage, supervise, or control the Chefs who prepare food on the Platform.

Cook4U is not a restaurant, catering company, or food delivery service. We are an intermediary technology platform. All food is prepared by independent Chefs operating as their own food businesses.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Platform accessible at cook4u.london. By creating an account, placing an order, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Orders

When you place an order, you are entering into a contract with the Chef — not with Cook4U. Cook4U acts as a payment intermediary only.

  • All prices are shown inclusive of any applicable taxes unless otherwise stated.
  • A 10% service fee is added to your order subtotal at checkout.
  • Payment is processed securely by Stripe. Cook4U does not store your card details.
  • Your order is confirmed when the Chef accepts it (status: "Confirmed").
  • Delivery is arranged directly with the Chef after order acceptance.

3. Cancellations & Refunds

You may cancel an order while it is in "Pending" or "Pending Acceptance" status. Once a Chef has confirmed your order, cancellation is at the Chef's discretion.

Refunds for food quality disputes should be raised with us at support@cook4u.london within 24 hours of receiving your order. We will mediate between you and the Chef. Cook4U reserves the right to issue refunds at its discretion where food safety or quality standards have clearly not been met.

4. Platform Rules

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • You may not share your account credentials with others.
  • You must not use the Platform for any fraudulent, unlawful, or abusive purpose.
  • You must not attempt to communicate with Chefs outside of the Platform to circumvent Cook4U's service fee or payment system.
  • Cook4U displays reviews publicly. Reviews must be honest and not defamatory.

5. Liability

Cook4U's liability to you is limited to the fullest extent permitted by EW statutory rights. Cook4U is not liable for:

  • Food quality, taste, freshness, or safety — these are the Chef's sole responsibility.
  • Delivery delays caused by the Chef or third parties.
  • Losses arising from any allergic reaction or dietary harm where you did not verify ingredients via the Platform's custom instructions feature before consuming any food.
  • Indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the Platform.

Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.

6. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Allergen Disclaimer

Important — Please Read Before Ordering

Food prepared by Chefs on Cook4U may contain allergens including but not limited to: nuts, peanuts, gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, shellfish, fish, sesame, celery, mustard, lupin, molluscs, and sulphites. Cross-contamination is possible in home kitchen environments.

If you have ANY food allergy, intolerance, or dietary restriction, it is YOUR responsibility to verify ingredients directly with the Chef via the Platform's custom instructions feature before consuming any food.

Cook4U does not independently verify the accuracy of allergen information provided by Chefs. Where a Chef has labelled a dish as allergen-free, Cook4U cannot guarantee this is accurate. Always check with the Chef directly if you have a life-threatening allergy.

By Placing an Order on Cook4U, You Acknowledge and Accept That:

  • Cook4U is a marketplace platform and does not prepare, cook, inspect, or deliver food.
  • The Chef is solely responsible for the safety, freshness, and allergen accuracy of all food they prepare.
  • You accept responsibility for reviewing allergen information and using the custom instructions feature before ordering.
  • Cook4U deliminates all risk associated with allergic reactions, dietary harm, or illness caused by food prepared by Chefs on the Platform.
